IBS #11 1 Corinthians
12:4
It stands to reason to me that since there are a diversity
of peoples, there would also be a diversity of gifts. Since we are all made in
the image of God, we all are inherently given similar spirits and common gifts,
but when it gets into more express or impactful gifts, the Lord has made each
of us unique, as different parts of the body. We each have different gifts so
as to better serve one another. If
everyone all had the same gifts, then it would be very hard to effectively
minister to everyone in the way we were made to. There are gifts that are more
valuable, according to Paul, but the thing is is this. What if a very important
person, say your King, called you and 4 others up to the castle because of
notable achievement. He gives you all different gifts, ranging from a silver
goblet to a thoroughbred stallion. If you were the one receiving the goblet,
you would not care that someone else got a stallion because of the simple honor
of receiving any gift from the King. That’s how we need to view Spiritual
gifts. Each one is precious and of extreme value because they came from God
Himself. He imparted these gifts to us, therefore they are absolute and extreme
value.
Today I will praise God for my specific gifts and look for
opportunities to serve others with them.
